Second owner. Clean and in good condition (but certainly not perfect) boat that has alternated being stored in water (NJ summers only) and rack stored. 1st owner removed one of the integrated swim platforms to mount a trolling motor. We had it re-glassed and gelcoated (see pics) – it is structurally sound and cosmetically an 8/10 (most people do not realize the port step/platform is missing until you point it out).
In 2008, we repowered the boat with a Suzuki DF 150 4 stroke outboard (150-200hrs) with a stainless steel prop. Dealer maintained motor since new. 2017-2018 winterization included oil, filter, plugs, impeller, fuel separator. Battery is 3-4yrs old. The pics of the motor tell the story... well maintained and it looks brand new under the cowling.
The bottom is currently painted with Interlux Micron CSC bottom paint that will need to be touched up/re-coated prior to launch.
Campion is one of Canada’s oldest and largest builders. They are a mid-tier builder with thousands of boats plying the waters (including the Pacific NW US). Not well known at all on the East Coast. The 582 Explorer is a big/little center console. A very good skinny water boat for a non-bay boat that can still easily run outside on nicer days.
The bow casting platform has a full cushioned sunpad that is easily removed and bow rails – a perfect place for a couple of kids. Standard flip up seat in front of the center console easily sits 1.5 (or 2 kids) with cooler underneath (drains overboard). 2 rotomolded/poly Helm seats (with removable cushions) swivel to face front or a skier/tuber in the rear. Rear swim platform has a folding stainless boarding ladder. 4 bow (aluminum bars) navy acrylic fabric bimini top (with boot) provides plenty of shade and with solid rear bar and 4 straps can be used when running at cruise. The Humminbird depth/fishfinder has transom mount transducer.
The center console on this boat is huge for her size – a great space to store tons of PFDs, fenders, bags, etc. Even plenty of room to add a porta potty. It has a gelcoated floor with drain, integrated shelf forward and a hatch w/screen for ventilation. In the bow there is an anchor rode locker forward under the forepeak with a hatch. The bow casting platform opens to reveal a full size gelcoated/drained storage area that easily holds anchors, rode, fenders, line. Rod holders under the gunnels and more storage under the helm seats.
Jensen AM/FM stereo (50wx4) and 4 marine speakers (with iphone dock/cord).
Fiberglass: She has some bumps and bruises. But most of the gelcoat is shiny and looks great. The bow has some dock scrapes but they are not deep. There is a deep scratch on the port side. The gunwales have had some minor fiberglass repair that is not perfect cosmetically but structurally it is fine.
Electrics. A few minor issues. A few of the dash gauges are not connected to the Suzuki outboard. When we repowered, the Suzuki has its own electronic gauge with visual/audible warning systems so we did not hook up several of the old gauges (water pressure, water temp, oil pressure). Gauges for battery voltage, engine trim, and fuel all function properly. The boat is plumber for a raw water washdown and a livewell – neither has been used for at least 10yrs and the pumps are certain to need replacement if you want them operational. The bilge pump and navigation lights function properly. The electric horn needs replacement.
Trailer. Included is a galvanized roller trailer that is in good condition. Two new tires on newer rims and a mounted spare tire included. No brakes. Lights on trailer function properly. Trailer axle and the hubs were replaced less than 2yrs ago. Very light rust on trailer in a few spots. Could use new safety chains. New galvanized fenders.
